Geriatrics and Extended Care Programs
The Extended Care Center (ECC) at Hines is
located in Building 217, at the far
southwest corner of the Hines campus. Along
with other Hines extended care sites such as
the Residential Care Facility (RCF) in
Building 221 and the 15 East Transitional
Care Unit (15ETC) in Building 200, the staff
provides preventive, skilled, restorative,
reactivation/rehabilitation, respite and
hospice/palliative care for eligible
veterans. The Extended Care Center includes
two large units and a 30-bed
reactivation/rehabilitation unit. A gift of
the Illinois AMVETS, the reactivation center
includes an Easy Street Environment for
rehabilitation therapies, a large recreation
room and a courtyard healing garden that is
especially enjoyed by patients and staff.
The Geriatric Primary Care Clinics are located in Building 217 (ECC)
on the first floor. Clinics provide primary care to geriatric
outpatients. Clinic hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday,
Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Outpatient appointments can be
scheduled by calling (708) 202-5095. Parking for outpatients is in
the Oklahoma lot, and handicapped spaces are located near the front
entrance of Building 217.

Services in all Geriatric and Extended Care Programs are based in
a collaborative model wherein care is provided by an
interdisciplinary team of physicians, geriatric fellows in training,
nurse practitioners, nurses, psychologists, social workers as well
as physical/occupational/kinesiology and recreational therapists.
